Emergency contraception works best the sooner you take it after unprotected sex or a contraception problem, like a missed pill or a split condom.
One pill works up to 3 days (72 hours) after, the other up to 5 days (120 hours).

Your weight and some medicines can affect how well the pills work, which is why the pharmacist asks about them.
After you've taken it
If you're sick within 3 hours of taking the tablet, come back, as you may need another dose.
Your next period may be early or late.
Do a pregnancy test if it's more than 7 days late, or lighter than usual.
Emergency contraception doesn't protect you for the rest of your cycle, so use condoms until you've started regular contraception.
